Brace Yourself! This is a Black-Tie event. But, this is not your typical Gala! The Maryland Hispanic Gala is held at  The Fillmore Silver Spring. The Fillmore is a dynamic, first-class music and entertainment venue where the latest state-of-the-art technology in audio/visual immerse guests in a truly Latin flavored ambiance full of vibrancy. The Hispanic Gala format is contemporary to allow guests to mingle freely and engage in networking opportunities throughout the evening.

Dúo Blanco y Negro de Cuba – “White and Black” Cuban Duet

Take a trip to Cuba without leaving the DMV! Enjoy the polyrhythmic percussion, guitars, eclectic melodies and vocal harmonies of Yenobis Delgado and Reimy Pérez. Experience Cuban music, considered to be one of the richest and most influential music in the world, through the musical senses of the two Cuban born and raised musicians. The Dúo Blanco y Negro de Cuba> has been playing music professionally for fifteen years and they have become a preference of all audiences. For your enjoyment, Cuban classical music and world known songs as Guantanamera.

Mariachi Nacional de D.C. de Pepe Gómez - DC Mariachis Group

Mexico lindo y querido…Viva Mexico! The musicians in this Mariachi group originate from several regions of Mexico bringing an array of contemporary and traditional mariachi music to their repertoire along with more than 25 years of experience as a group. Each member has years of experience playing their respective instrument. This unique, fun and energetic group brings a piece of Mexican heritage to our event and is an exciting addition to our fiesta!

Mariachi National de D.C. welcomes our event guests at arrival as they play their lively music at the lobby/reception area.

Flamenco Maestro Torcuato Zamora and Furia Flamenca

Enjoy Spain’s traditional flamenco music and take a journey to “La Madre Patria” with this electrifying performance. Maestro Zamora is legendary in the Washington DC region for keeping alive the culture of Spain. He has played with the same guitar for over 51 years and was commemorated by Felipe VI, King of Spain with the Official Medal of Merit to a Civilian for spreading Spain’s cultural heritage abroad since 1958.

Furia Flamenca, led by artistic director Estela Velez De Paredez, is an award-winning dance company that brings the ferocity and passion of flamenco to the stage and transports audiences to Southern Spain in technically refined, emotionally explosive, and dynamically choreographed dancing. Their unique style combines traditional gypsy with the more modern flamenco to create the perfect balance.

Banda Feminina Batalá Washington D.C.

The drums of Batalá are certain to make you vibrate with excitement! This is Brazil’s dynamic Afro Bahian culture and Samba Reggae music at its best. Batalá is an all women drum band, all volunteers. Batalá in Washington, D.C. is part of a larger Batalá family created in 1997 by Giba Gonçalves. Born and raised in Salvador, Bahia in Brazil, Giba was living in Paris when he first had the idea for the band. From Paris it spread to other cities in France, Belgium, the United Kingdom and Brazil. The instruments and clothing are all manufactured in Salvador, Bahia, where the band has a social program that gives jobs to many families and from there they are shipped to the bands around the world. In 2007, the newest branch of the Batalá band was created in Washington, DC, expanding the reach of the band’s music to the United States. Today, there are 30 Batalá bands around the world.

Batalá performs on the stage prior to the beginning of event program and also leads our scholarship recipients and sponsors into the main hall during awardees presentation.

DJ Sólido from El Zol 107.9

Today’s Latin Music played by DJ Sólido from El Zol 107.9, the DMV’s Top Rated Spanish Language FM Radio Station. Enjoy Latin Remixes and Contemporary Latin sounds while mingling and networking in our event. DJ Sólido’s "Ardiente" sounds energize the house as we prepare to begin our event program. El Zol 107.9 is owned and operated by Entercom, which owns and operates radio stations in the nation’s largest revenue markets.

DJ Sólido plays during our dinning and networking hour and also at the end of event program while the Pa’Gozar Latin Band sets up on the stage for their live performance.

Pa’Gozar Latin Band (American & Latin Music)

Bring your dancing shoes and dance the night away! This is a great reason to stay out late on a Thursday evening. This band helps us close our event with a two-hour, non-stop dancing marathon! You do not have to be a professional dancer to enjoy their Latin Jazz, Salsa, Merengue, Bachata, Cumbia, and Cha-Cha rhythms. This 11-member band lead by vocalist Laura Sosa also brings to life some of the most popular 70s, 80s and 90s American hits! A bilingual dancing musical performance you should stay for!
